Cross Silhouette Booster - the red form

A Bandai add-on set intended for SD kits of the Cross Silhouette system. It contains the parts of an auxiliary power unit in red plastic, which are fitted onto a finished model. On its own it is not a kit of a robot - without a base model you will not use it.

What the accessory is for

Auxiliary units of this kind change the silhouette of a finished model: they add bulk at the back, extend the line of the shoulders and give a figure a more dynamic look in a display case. With SD kits, which are compact in themselves, such an accessory is the quickest way to set a model apart from the same kit in somebody else's collection. The red form suits models with a warm color scheme, or conversely works as a deliberate contrast to gray and dark machines. Building and painting tips

First check whether the attachment on the model holds firmly even with the weight of the accessory - with back-mounted units it often pays to thicken the pin slightly with super glue and sand it back to fit. Nozzles and outlets look better if you shade them dark on the inside and lighten the rim instead with a dry brush; the contrast immediately deepens the impression of depth. If you are going to spray, paint the separate parts before assembly so that you can reach the inner surfaces too. At the end even the sheen out with varnish - the combination of a new part and an older kit otherwise looks mismatched.
