A Lifecolor paint set put together for the subject of the German air service of the First World War (Fliegertruppe), that is for the aircraft that took off under the markings of the imperial army. According to the name these are acrylic paints, and the set gives the modeler a palette matched in advance, so there is no need to put the shades together piece by piece from different lines.
The surface finish of German aircraft changed several times between 1914 and 1918. At first stretched fabric in its natural tone prevailed, to which the dope gave a yellowish cast. Later came opaque finishes in muted greens, browns and purples, and finally the covering with the printed lozenge pattern. To that belong the wood of the propellers, the plywood skinning of the fuselages, the engine cowlings and the areas of markings. The set aims exactly into this scene, so it will serve in building biplanes and triplanes alike in the usual modeling scales.
Stir the paint thoroughly before work, otherwise the pigment will stay settled on the bottom. Choose the thinner and the thinning ratio according to the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging, because with a thinner from elsewhere the paint can curdle. Spray in several thin layers rather than in one heavy one, as a thin layer will not flood the fine relief of the ribs and the stitching of the covering. Fabric areas will take a noticeably lighter tone than wood and metal, because the weather bleached them faster.
