Dull Dark Green is a muted dark green, listed in the Federal Standard 595 chart under number 34092. The three at the start belongs to the matte group of the chart, the four in second place to the green family of shades. The word dull in the name suggests a deliberately restrained tone with no brilliance, which is exactly what is expected of a camouflage color.
The dark green field is usually the largest in a scheme and therefore decides the result most. It pays to lay it down in a thin, even coat and only then to add depth. The shade also suits parts that should visually recede on a model, such as the insides of covers or surfaces in shadow. Paired with a lighter green or gray, it keeps a scheme legible even after dusting and washes.
Wash and degrease the surface before painting; grease shows as blotches under a matte green. Stir the bottle and apply the paint in several thin coats. With matte dark tones it is good to let each coat set briefly, otherwise the coats merge into one heavy layer and the surface then goes grainy. If you want to put decals on the area later, run a gloss varnish over it first, because a matte surface silvers under a decal. Thin it with the thinner for this range of paints.
For modelers who build camouflaged aircraft and equipment and want a dark green with no needless sheen. The package contains one bottle of paint of 17 ml; thinner and other accessories are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
