About product

Techmod 1:48 German vehicle recognition drapes (Second World War)

This set from Techmod contains wet (waterslide) decals in 1:48 scale that depict the recognition drapes used by the German army during the Second World War. It is not a kit but a decal accessory for finishing a model of a vehicle or a diorama and making it more convincing.

The real subject

Recognition drapes (Fliegertücher) were spread out over the hoods, roofs and beds of vehicles so that their own air force could easily tell friendly hardware apart from above. The set contains them as faithfully printed decals that can be applied to the surfaces of a model.

Use and tips

  • Cut the decal out, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and slide it onto the surface.
  • Use a decal softener for a perfect fit over the relief.
  • Apply onto a smooth, ideally gloss coat and then go over it with a matte clear coat.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of German Second World War hardware.
  • Diorama makers who want to add period recognition markings.

This is a decal accessory, not a model of a vehicle. The model, paints and varnish are not included in the package.
