Vallejo Premium Color, Steel (60 ml)

Steel is a steel metallic from the Vallejo Premium Color line, water-based airbrush paints with a hybrid acrylic-polyurethane binder. Fine metal pigments give the surface a cool steel sheen. The paint has high opacity, grips plastic, metal, fiberglass and the flexible bodies of RC models well, and is ready to spray.

Use

  • Apply it with an airbrush with a 0.3 mm nozzle or larger, at a pressure of roughly 2 to 4 bar.
  • Stir the metallic thoroughly before use and while spraying, as the metal pigment settles at the bottom.
  • It looks best over a smooth, finely sanded base.
  • Apply it at the end; metallic shades are harder to overspray and to mask.

Who it is for

The paint suits modelers as well as makers of custom projects, RC bodies and decorative work where convincing steel metal is needed. It also suits the metal surfaces of military and aviation hardware.

FAQ

Yes, the Premium Color line is airbrush ready. It is sprayed through a 0.3 mm nozzle or larger at a pressure of roughly 2 to 4 bar.

It grips plastic, metal, fiberglass, polycarbonate and the flexible bodies of RC models, thanks to the acrylic-polyurethane binder.

The metal pigment of a metallic settles at the bottom of the bottle. Stirring gives you an even sheen with no blotches.
