A set of pointed detail brushes that the Taiwanese brand Madworks developed together with the brush maker Grandarts. The hair bundle is blended: Kolinsky hair supplies the spring and the ability to hold a point, while synthetic filament raises durability and copes with thicker paints as well. The box gives five sizes, 0, 2/0, 3/0, 5/0 and 10/0, that is from a small area down to the finest line. The manufacturer also carries a pure Kolinsky version and a fully synthetic version in the same range.
For modelers and figure painters who paint with a brush and need a span of sizes from one maker, so that the behavior of the hair does not change between brushes. The blended hair is a sensible compromise between the two extreme versions: it holds a point better than ordinary synthetic and will also take paints that quickly finish off pure natural hair.
Wash the brush out after work before the paint dries, and shape the point. Do not leave a brush standing in water or in thinner, as both the hair and the ferrule will deform. Aggressive solvents and lacquers shorten the life of the natural component of the hair; a separate synthetic brush suits those better.
