A handle for scribing chisels and cutting blades from the Taiwanese brand Madworks, in a black finish. Chisels for scribing panel lines are sold as separate blades with a shank, so the handle belongs with them as necessary equipment. The hexagonal profile of the body keeps the tool from rolling across the bench and from slipping in the fingers during a pass.
The shanks are clamped in a chuck which, according to the manufacturer, handles round shanks 2.5 to 3.1 mm in diameter and square ones measuring 6.0 x 0.6 mm. Compare the shank size of your own chisels before you buy, therefore. When scribing, mark the line out with tape or a template and guide the chisel toward you in several light passes, not in one strong one. Make a deep groove gradually, because a chisel that slips is repaired in plastic with putty and sanding. Cover the edge once you have finished. The black finish is the same tool as the other colors; the color serves to tell which chisel you have clamped where.
