A flexible cork bed that is laid on a layout under the track before the ballast is scattered. The pack contains ten strips of 0.98 m, that is 9.8 m in all, and it is intended for H0 gauge. On a layout the cork has two jobs: it carries the track a few millimeters above the board, so that a natural roadbed with sloping shoulders comes about, and at the same time it damps the noise that the board would otherwise carry and amplify. The light shade is the natural color of cork. The manufacturer is HEKI, a German brand of terrain-building materials.
For builders of layouts and modules in H0 gauge who want quieter running and the correct profile of the roadbed. It also suits dioramas with a section of track, where the cork gives the rail a realistic height above the terrain. Laying it is easy and needs no special tools: a sharp knife, a ruler, glue and patience in the curves are enough. The advantage over layering cardboard or wood is the flexibility, thanks to which the cork evens out small irregularities in the board and the track can be laid along it in a straight line.
The track, the glue and the ballast are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. When cutting the cork, work on a mat and guide the knife away from you.
