A formable modeling compound for building terrain and scenic elements. It is applied to a load-bearing surface, that is to shaped polystyrene, card, a wooden frame or wire mesh, and with it the surface of a landscape, a bank, a field track, a heap of soil or a small rock outcrop can be created. It also suits filling the joints between the individual sections of a base, so that the transitions are not visible. The package holds 500 g in a white version.
Apply the compound in smaller doses and spread it with a spatula or a modeling tool; it is a good idea to keep the tools and your fingers damp, as the compound then sticks less. The surface is shaped while it is still pliable: you press a rock texture out with a piece of aluminum foil or a coarse brush, wheel tracks with a thin stick, and smooth fine areas with a brush and water. Apply a thick layer in stages, so that it dries evenly and does not crack. The drying time, further working and any sanding are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
A white version is an advantage where paint is to go onto the terrain: a pale surface does not knock paint back and the shades on it stay lively. Let the area dry through thoroughly before painting, otherwise the paint will bleed into it. Apply paint thinned in several coats and finally tune the finished surface with scatter and growth, which will hide any unevenness in the terrain.
For builders of dioramas, display-case bases and layouts who shape their terrain themselves. The surface, the paints and scatter materials are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
