Gray modeling compound from the Heki company in a 500 g package. For shaping terrain, rock faces and scenic elements on a diorama.
Responsibility details are not available.
A formable modeling compound for building terrain. It is applied to a load-bearing structure of shaped polystyrene, card, wood or wire mesh, and from it the surface of a landscape, a rock face, a retaining wall, an embankment or a heap of loose material arises. The version is gray, which suits anywhere the result is to be stone or concrete. The package holds 500 g.
Work in smaller doses and spread them with a spatula or a modeling tool; damp tools and fingers do not stick to the compound as much. While the surface is still pliable, a texture can be pressed into it: crumpled aluminum foil will make a rock fracture, a coarse brush will roughen an area, a thin stick will suggest the joints of masonry or wheel tracks. Apply a thicker layer in stages, so that it dries evenly and does not crack. The drying time and further working are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
A gray base has the advantage that a scraped or unpainted patch does not glare white and looks natural in stone areas. Rock is then easy to finish with a glaze: let the area dry through thoroughly, apply heavily thinned dark paint, which will run into the hollows, and go over the edges with a dry brush and a paler shade. Fill out the transition to the surrounding terrain with scatter and growth, so that no straight edge is left anywhere.
For builders of dioramas, display-case bases and layouts who shape their terrain and rock faces themselves. The surface, the paints and scatter materials are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
