Heki static grass in a dark green shade, fiber length 4.5 mm, a 50 g package. The fibers are applied into glue and stand up square to the surface.
Responsibility details are not available.
Static grass consists of short dyed fibers which on a diorama are applied into a layer of glue and stand up on end under the action of a static charge. The result is growth that stands square to the surface and reflects light in much the same way as real grass, whereas ordinary scatter stays lying down. This package from the Heki company holds 50 g of fibers 4.5 mm long in a dark green shade.
A length of 4.5 mm corresponds in 1:35 scale to grass roughly 16 cm tall, in 1:87 scale to almost 40 cm. This is therefore the mature growth of an unmown meadow, a road shoulder, a ditch or an overgrown yard, not a carefully cut lawn. The dark green shade fits shaded places, the foot of trees, the sides of walls and places where grass does not dry out.
Coat the area with scenic glue or with white PVA glue thinned with water. Apply the fibers with an applicator that gives them a static charge and hold the mesh a couple of centimeters above the surface, so that the fibers have time to stand up. Once dry, turn the model over and tap the excess out; it can be used again. Growth applied in two layers looks more natural, with the second dose going only onto selected places and mixed with another shade or length.
The bag will do even for a larger area, so it suits builders of dioramas and the model railroad alike. Close an opened bag properly after taking fibers out, so that no moisture gets into it and the fibers do not stick together. The glue and an applicator are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
