Static fibers stand up square in glue, so that growth grows upwards and does not look like sprinkled granulate. The forest floor shade aims at places where greenery is subdued by soil and old leaves, that is under the crowns of trees, between trunks and at the edges of forest tracks. The package weighs 50 grams and the fibers are 2 to 3 millimeters.
Under trees the growth is different from a meadow. Little light gets there, so the grass is sparser, lower and darker and the ground shows between the blades. A short fiber corresponds to that form too: in H0 scale it works out at roughly 17 to 26 centimeters of real grass, in 1:35 scale at roughly 7 to 10 centimeters. Leave the area deliberately broken up, then, interrupt it around the trunks with bare soil and fill it out with fine granulate or foliage to stand for fallen leaves and brushwood.
Coat the area with glue and apply the fibers from an electrostatic applicator, so that they stand up and dry upright in the glue. Work in smaller sections and hold the mesh several centimeters above the terrain. Between trunks and in narrow places it helps to cover the surroundings with paper, so that fibers do not land where you do not want them. Once dry, sweep the excess away with a soft brush and keep it for next time. It is rewarding to go over finished undergrowth once more and add small tufts to the thinner places, so that the area does not look uniform.
The package holds 50 grams of fibers 2 to 3 millimeters long. The glue, a static grass applicator, trees and surface material are not included, unless stated otherwise.
