A set of early pattern wheels for the British Alvis FV622 Stalwart amphibious truck in 1:35 scale. Six printed wheels with a sharply rendered off-road tread and fully modeled sidewalls replace the simplified parts from the Airfix kit.

The Alvis FV622 Stalwart was a British high-mobility truck with all six wheels driven, which appeared with the units in 1966. It grew out of the same chassis family as the Saracen and Saladin armored cars, propulsion was taken care of by a Rolls-Royce B81 series eight-cylinder gasoline engine, and the machine could swim into water and move using a pair of waterjets. It carried ammunition and fuel to places an ordinary truck could not reach, and served the British Army and the Army of the Rhine into the 1980s.
Tires of enormous diameter with a coarse pointed tread gave the Stalwart its unmistakable silhouette, and machines from the first years of service carried them in a different form from later vehicles. It is precisely this early form that the set brings: every wheel is printed as a single piece, so the edges of the tread and the lettering on the sidewall stay sharp and nowhere will you find the parting line of the mold or ejector marks.
The parts are conceived as a direct replacement for the original wheels, so the hub seats on the axle without modifying the suspension. Before painting, it is enough to cut the thin print supports off carefully and sand the area down with fine abrasive paper. Painting comes out best when the tread is first sprayed with a dark base and the sidewall is then only lightly lightened with a dry brush, which brings the rendering out.
The 1:35 scale corresponds to the Alvis Stalwart kit from Airfix, for which the set is primarily intended.
On the silhouette of a six-wheeled vehicle the wheels are the first thing a viewer notices, so the replacement shows immediately in the overall view as well. That is especially apparent on a model built on a terrain base, where the tires sink into the soft surface and their profile comes to the fore.
