A pair of ACES II ejection seats from 3D printing in 1:48 scale for the McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle fighter. An accessory for the interior, suitable for a build with the canopy raised.
Responsibility details are not available.
The McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle first flew in July 1972 and from the second half of the 1970s it formed the main instrument of American fighter air defense. A large wing area, an exceptional thrust to weight ratio and a powerful onboard radar gave it agility and reach that contemporary opponents could match only with difficulty. While the airframe stayed almost unchanged throughout its service, the equipment of the cockpit was gradually renewed.
The seat designated ACES II established itself as a common standard across the types of the US Air Force; you will meet it in fighters, in attack aircraft and with strategic machines. Thanks to it a pilot can leave the aircraft even while standing on the ground. Its identifying marks are an angular backrest with pronounced side covers and a rocket unit housed under the cushion.
In the package you will find two pieces in 1:48 scale produced by 3D printing. The pair will cover a two-seat version of the Eagle or two single-seat models being built side by side. Bond the resin parts with super glue, having first roughened and degreased the contact surface. Apply the paint in thin layers, so that the fine rendering of the belts and handles is not lost.
If you want to show the cockpit in full, count on the change of seat opening up a view of the rear bulkhead and the side panels as well. Choose the shade of the interior according to photographs of the particular machine, then, and leave a lighter tone only where the light falls. Insert the finished part at the very end, after completing the paint on the fuselage and after glazing the canopy.
