A shopping cart in 1:24 scale, one piece, a resin casting from three-dimensional printing. An accessory for parking lot and city scenes.

A shopping cart is a tricky object for a modeling workshop. Its basket is a mesh of dozens of wires a few millimeters thick in reality, so in 1:24 scale under a tenth of a millimeter. Such a shape will not get into a mold, because resin will not fill the mesh and the casting breaks up when being taken out. Three-dimensional printing does the opposite: it builds layer by layer and a mesh does not bother it.
A parking lot in front of a shop, a deserted street, the back yard of a service station. A cart is one of the few objects that tell a viewer at once where a scene takes place, and it hardly takes up any room at all. Tipped on its side or wedged against a curb, it also gives a scene the movement that a static car does not have on its own.
