1:35 Signs on the military vehicles of Ukraine ATO 2014-15

What the set contains

Decals with the markings that Ukrainian military equipment carried in the years 2014 and 2015, in 1:35 scale. The abbreviation ATO in the name stands for the Anti-Terrorist Operation, that is the designation under which the fighting in eastern Ukraine was conducted at the time.

Why it pays off on a model

The equipment of these years was not marked uniformly. Besides national markings, vehicles carried numbers, inscriptions and recognition marks applied in field conditions, often sprayed through a stencil or painted with a brush. It is exactly such small things that turn a generally built vehicle into a particular machine and at the same time hint at when and where a scene takes place. Without them a model stays only a type of equipment without a story.

How the decals are applied

Cut the decal out close to the artwork and soak it for a few seconds in lukewarm water. Let it rest until it begins to slide freely on the backing paper, and then slip it into place. The base should be glossy and smooth, or a milky veil will be left under the film. Press the water out from under the decal with a soft cloth or a cotton swab from the center toward the edges. Over rivets, edges and pressings a decal softener helps, after which the film draws onto the surface and stops being noticeable. Once dry, go over the whole model with a matte varnish, so that the glossy area under the decal merges with the rest of the finish.

Who it is for

For builders of models of present-day equipment and of dioramas from eastern Europe. The model, paints and glue are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
