A mattress is among the accessories that come in useful in a surprising number of situations. It lies on a bunk in a billet, leans against a wall in a cleared apartment, serves as a makeshift bed in a cellar or as bedding on the bed of a truck. Every time it gives away that someone sleeps in the place, and the scene thereby gains a human dimension.
The package contains two mattresses in 1:35 scale of resin. The size of the part is 50 x 20 x 5 mm, which converted to reality corresponds to a bed of roughly 175 x 70 cm.
Resin is not polystyrene and plastic cement has no effect on it; use super glue or epoxy. Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent and let them dry. A cloth surface comes out best when a dark wash is laid into the folds over the base shade and the edges are lightly gone over with a dry brush. A striped or checked cover can be suggested with a thin line; a few irregular stripes are enough, because in 1:35 scale an exact pattern cannot be made out anyway.
The set suits builders of interior dioramas who are furnishing a billet, a makeshift place to sleep or an abandoned apartment and need bedding in the right scale. It will also find a use in a scene with a vehicle, where a mattress will serve as loaded cargo. A model, figures, paints and glue are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
