The real subject

Chocks are among the most ordinary equipment of an airfield surface. The personnel place them at the wheels of a parked aircraft so that it does not move, and remove them only on command before taxiing. On a diorama they fulfill one more task: they are small, well known to the eye and they thereby give a scene both scale and order, because they reveal that the aircraft is standing and is not taxiing anywhere.

What the set contains

According to the name four chocks in 1:72 scale and a decal sheet. This is the second set of the series; the individual sets differ in the shape of the chocks and in the number of pieces, so they can be combined according to how many machines stand on the surface.

Building and painting tips

Cut excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and level the surface with which the chock sits on the ground; otherwise it stands tilted and spoils the impression. Choose the glue according to the material given on the packaging, and clean and degrease the surfaces before joining. Choose the color according to a photograph: chocks tend to be in a conspicuous shade, so that the personnel can see them on the surface, and they also tend to be markedly scuffed. Leave the surface matte. With ordinary sheets a decal is applied by the wet method, that is by soaking, letting it stand and pressing it onto a smooth glossy surface with a decal softener. Before that, though, check in the instructions whether it is not a self-adhesive version; a soaked self-adhesive film is irrecoverably ruined.
