The Su-27 is a heavy single-seat fighter aircraft, in its basic version with one cockpit under a long canopy. The cockpit sits high above the ground and the pilot gets into it only by a ladder the mechanics bring up for him. On a model the ladder is therefore one of the few accessories that explain by themselves why the canopy is open.
The set consists of photo-etched metal parts intended for assembling one ladder. The execution corresponds to the single-seat Su-27; for the two-seat Su-27UB and Su-30 machines the manufacturer issues a separate set. Photo-etch allows a thickness of material that is not attainable with injection-molded plastic, so the steps and the side rails stay slender even after painting.
The set belongs to the building of airfield scenes in 1:72 scale and will serve also where a model stands on its own in a display case and needs one striking detail more. The package contains only the photo-etched parts. The model of the aircraft, figures, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
