Responsibility details are not available.
The Il-62 was a Soviet long-range airliner and its silhouette is hard to confuse with anything else: four engines set in two pairs on the sides of the rear fuselage, tail surfaces forming a tall letter T and a wing free of any nacelles. The M version received more economical engines and a larger fuel load, thanks to which it handled the longest routes of its day.
The layout with the engines at the rear has one practical consequence that modelers know well: an empty aircraft standing on the ground has its center of gravity far aft, and so there is a retractable support leg under the rear fuselage. The Il-62M flew with Aeroflot and with other Eastern Bloc carriers and was one of the types Europe routinely saw on long-haul routes.
This is a polystyrene kit in 1:144 scale. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the parts are separated from the sprues and glued with modeling cement for plastic.
An airliner stands or falls on a smooth surface, because a light gloss finish will show up every scratch. It is therefore a good idea to sand and polish the fuselage joints thoroughly before spraying. As on the real aircraft the mass is concentrated at the rear, so it pays to balance the model before closing the fuselage and, if necessary, to add weight in the nose, or it will sit down on its tail. The decals are applied only over a dry gloss base, otherwise silvering will appear under them.
Paints, glue and tools are not in the box, unless stated otherwise.
