A modeling masking tape 4.5 mm wide and 18 m long. Unlike ordinary straight tape it is meant for following curves: in a bend it takes the shape without the edge wrinkling and letting paint underneath. It is not a kit and not a ready-made mask for one specific model but a universal masking material for use on any model.

Use

• Bounding the curved transitions of camouflage, where straight tape fans out and ripples.
• Outlining round and oval features such as covers, hatches or cutouts.
• Creating a boundary which you then fill in with wider tape or masking paper.
• Masking curved frames and transitions on a fuselage, hood or turret.

How to work with the tape

The 4.5 mm width is a compromise between following a curve and covering power - the tape on its own bounds the transition, but the area behind it is best filled in. Lay the tape down without pulling it, or once the paint dries it will return to its original shape and shift the edge. Press the edge down firmly with a fingernail or a toothpick once laid, and run the base color over it as well; the dried coat seals the edge and no further paint will creep under it. Remove the tape shortly after the paint has dried, at a sharp angle and toward the masked area, so that the edge of the finish is not torn away. Store the roll in a closed package away from dust and direct sunlight.
