A plastic kit of a missile boat of the PLA Navy, listed under the designation Type 22, in 1:144 scale. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the range of parts and the order of the individual steps are described in the enclosed instructions.
Missile boats are small fast craft whose strength is not armor or gunnery but anti-ship missiles. They are used in coastal waters, where the closeness of the shore, shallows and islands can be exploited: the boat dashes out, fires and withdraws before the opponent has time to react. Large surface ships then face an enemy that is cheap, numerous and hard to hit. That is exactly why this class of craft is still represented in coastal navies.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water before painting; paint holds considerably better on a degreased surface. Glue the hull first and let the joint harden properly, and only then sand it. In 1:144 scale the craft comes out small, so spray thin coats: a heavy layer would flood the fine detail of the deck. Mark the waterline with masking tape applied before spraying, as touching it up with a brush afterwards will not give a straight line. Leave the thinnest parts until the end of the build, because a single careless movement can damage them.
For the modeler who collects modern warships, and for anyone looking for a smaller build for a few evenings. The finished model will not take up a whole shelf and looks good on a simple stand.
Paints, glue and accessories are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
