The product

Floor tiles for dioramas in 1:16 scale. Paving is a rewarding element in a scene: it gives figures and equipment a level surface to stand on, and the regular grid of joints gives away by itself how big the view is. In 1:16 scale an adult figure measures roughly 11 cm and a tile 20 cm along the side comes out at 12.5 mm, so every joint and every chipped corner is visible on the finished scene.

Field of use

Above all in interiors and in what is left of them: a workshop, a garage, a hall, a corridor, a station building or the floor of a house of which only the outer walls remain. It will also serve well in the open air as a paved yard or an apron in front of a gate. The 1:16 scale is at home with large figures and with models of equipment of the same size, where even small damage to a surface stands out on a scene.

Building and painting tips

Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little distance from the part and sand the rest level, so that the areas follow on from each other. Wash and degrease the surface before painting. Painting paving rests on three steps: a continuous base shade, a dark wash run into the joints and a dry brush that brings out the edges. The most believable floor is one on which the shades of the individual tiles differ slightly, so it pays to go over several of them a tone lighter or warmer. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts, and the specific procedure is given in the maker's instructions.
