Bf 109G — gunsight 1:24 is a 3D-printed detail set from Eduard for the Airfix kit. It is not an airplane kit but a replacement of the coarse plastic gunsight in the cockpit with a finely printed part.

A note right at the start: this is not an airplane kit. It is a detail set from Eduard, made by direct 3D printing, which replaces the injection-molded plastic gunsight in the cockpit. The set is intended for the Airfix Messerschmitt Bf 109G kit in 1:24 scale (the G-5 and G-6 versions) and cannot be used without it.
The reflector gunsight sits in the cockpit directly in front of the pilot, right behind the windscreen. In 1:24 scale, where the model is large and the cockpit is usually built with the canopy open, it is an utterly dominant feature — one of the first things a viewer looks at in the cockpit. In an injection-molded kit it is usually no more than a coarse block with soft edges. The printed part gives a fine, thin frame and sharp small details that a mold cannot manage. 1:24 is exactly where such a change pays off most: what nobody can tell apart in a small scale is obvious here at first glance.
A note on the reflector: the set is not stated to include a clear reflector glass. If you need the glass and it turns out not to be in the package, it is easy to make from thin clear film or from a leftover piece of clear plastic from the kit.
Working with a 3D print is different from working with plastic: cement for polystyrene will not hold here, only cyanoacrylate glue or epoxy will make the joint. Before painting, rinse the part in lukewarm water with detergent — print resin and uncured resin residue would leave stains under the paint. Do any sanding wet only, so that no dust forms; it is harmful and does not belong in your lungs. The frame of the gunsight is thin and breaks easily: cut it off the support with a sharp knife, do not pull on it, and fit it into the cockpit with care. Choose a matte black; small light spots can be picked out with dry-brushing.
This is an accessory to a model, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
