The AIM-9B Sidewinder in 1:32 scale from Reskit is a set of guided missiles carried externally, for large aircraft models.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not an aircraft kit but a set of externally carried guided missiles in 1:32 scale. It gets the armament under the wings of a large model ready and replaces the simplified parts that tend to come with basic injection molds. Reskit lists the same type of missile in smaller scales as well, so a single standard can be kept across a whole display cabinet.
The AIM-9B is the oldest production variant of the whole family and entered service at the end of the 1950s. Its seeker head responded to heat without cooling, so the missile had to attack the exhaust of a target from behind, and the sun and a bright sky both disturbed it. Its recognition features are the triangular forward control surfaces and the rollerons at the ends of the tail surfaces, which damped unwanted roll. Despite all its limitations it served dozens of air forces and became the pattern for every later version.
The body of the missile tends to be light, but the contrasting colored bands ahead of the seeker give away training or live munitions, so decide on the version in advance. The bands come out best with narrow masking tape, as overspray on a round surface is miserable to correct. Mask the seeker cover before the primer goes on and leave it clean. Finally, set the missiles so that they all sit at the same angle to the axis of the aircraft.
The missiles are unpainted; obtain paints and glue separately.
