The Dornier Do 335 A-0 Pfeil 1:32 from the Japanese manufacturer Zoukei-Mura - a large plastic kit of the SWS line with a complete internal structure, both DB 603 engines and the characteristic arrangement of a tractor and a pusher propeller.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:32 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Zoukei-Mura, placed in its flagship SWS line. The manufacturer states 353 parts, two-color molding (gray and clear plastic) and decals. The SWS philosophy is unambiguous: the aircraft is built the way it was actually built. In the box you will therefore find both DB 603 engines, wing spars with a box structure, fuselage bulkheads, the armament and the landing gear with hydraulic struts - that is, parts that will not be visible once the fuselage is closed. That is enormous value, but also an enormous demand on time: you will not build such a model in a weekend and it is definitely not a kit for beginners. Many modelers therefore build SWS kits with open panels or an exposed engine so that the work can be seen.
The Do 335 Pfeil (arrow) was structurally one of the strangest aircraft of the Second World War. It had two engines on the centerline of the fuselage - one at the front with a tractor propeller and the second at the rear with a pusher propeller behind the tail (a push-pull, tandem arrangement). The advantage over an ordinary twin-engine aircraft is fundamental: the thrust lies on the centerline, so if one engine fails the aircraft does not pull to one side, and yet it has the aerodynamics of a single-engine machine. It was the fastest piston-engine aircraft of the Luftwaffe. Because the propeller turned behind the tail, the pilot had to be able to jettison the rear propeller and the vertical tail (with explosive bolts) - without that he would not have survived a parachute escape. The aircraft was therefore also given one of the first ejection seats. The designation A-0 means a pre-production batch; the aircraft never reached operational service.
Build in assemblies: first the internal structure, the engines and the cockpit, and only then close the fuselage. Use liquid cement for plastic and keep testing the parts dry as you go. Paint the inside and bring it out with a wash before you close it up. On the large areas of 1:32 a primer and an airbrush pay off - every step and scratch shows. Apply gloss varnish under the decals and a matte coat after them. The model is heavy, so think about nose weight.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
