A KM-1M ejection seat in 1:32 scale, produced by direct three-dimensional printing. The box holds one piece, intended for models of the MiG-21, MiG-23, MiG-25 and MiG-27.
Responsibility details are not available.
The KM-1M is a Soviet ejection seat used in the supersonic fighters of the Mikoyan design bureau. The seat is fairly broken up in shape, with a prominent headrest, harness straps, controls and survival equipment, and in 1:32 scale practically all of it is visible from an open cockpit. That is exactly why the simplified plastic part from a kit tends to be one of the first things modelers replace.
The box holds one seat produced by direct three-dimensional printing. The technology makes it possible to render the small features crisply and in a single piece, so there is no need to assemble the seat from many small parts. The part is intended for models of the MiG-21, MiG-23, MiG-25 and MiG-27 in 1:32 scale.
The seat is held on thin print supports. Nip them off as close to the part as possible and level the remaining marks with a file or abrasive paper so that the surface stays smooth. Remove any print resin residue and degrease the part before painting, otherwise the paint will not adhere. It is bonded with super glue or epoxy. Start painting with a base coat, then spray the body of the seat and finish the harness straps with a brush; a final dark layer will bring out the recessed details.
The set suits modelers who are building in a large scale with an open cockpit and want a matching seat in it without laboriously assembling photo-etched parts. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
