A painting mask set for the F-4E Phantom II in 1:32 scale from the Reskit brand holds pre-cut masks that take the place of cutting masking tape by hand while painting a model. Intended for the Tamiya kit.

Pre-cut masks for painting a model of the F-4E Phantom II in 1:32 scale. The set belongs among accessories for painting — there are no parts in it to be glued to the model, and no decals. The benefit lies in time and in accuracy: the shapes that would be cut out of tape by hand and by eye are ready here and identical on the left and the right side. The target kit is Tamiya.
Hand-cut tape always has a slightly irregular edge, and on symmetrical features the left and the right side never match entirely. A cut mask removes that problem. In the large 1:32 scale that matters a great deal, because a model is looked at close up and asymmetry is conspicuous. The second advantage is repeatability: if the painting does not come out and an area has to be sprayed again, the result looks the same the second time as the first.
The surface has to be clean, dry and free of grease. Lift the mask off the sheet with a sharp point, lay it on by one edge and press outward from that edge, so that no bubble closes under it. Press the edges down with a blunt tool, best a wooden one. Apply the paint in several thin coats; one heavy coat builds up on the edge of the mask and once it is removed leaves a visible step. If you combine a mask with ordinary tape, always stick them so that the tape lies on top of the mask, not under it. Store the set flat, as a crumpled sheet sticks badly.
This is a masking accessory, not a model. The kit and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
