The CF-104 was a license variant of the Starfighter for the Royal Canadian Air Force, adapted for tasks in the European theater. The versions of the individual countries differed not only in equipment but also in small points on the landing gear, such as the type of tires and the form of the hubs. That is exactly why wheel sets are made separately for the individual forms, and why it pays to check which version a model represents — on a finished aircraft in 1:32 scale a wheel is a large and unmissable detail.
Separate the castings from the casting block with a fine saw, and never break them off. Level the cut face with a file, wash the part in warm water with detergent and let it dry; without degreasing, paint holds badly on resin. Sanding is done wet and with respiratory protection. Use cyanoacrylate glue to join them, which resin takes unlike cement for plastic. Try the parts dry in the landing gear leg — resin can be fitted in, but the loss of material is irreversible, so work in small steps. Paint over a primer, the tire matte and the hub according to the scheme; a fine pigment on the tread gives the impression of dusty service.
