An injection-molded plastic kit of the German experimental Messerschmitt P.1101 jet aircraft in 1:32 scale from Das Werk. It is a new mold; according to the manufacturer the package offers a 2 in 1 option, as either the prototype with its original wing or the intended combat (production) form with a different wing can be built. A detachable engine on a dolly is included as well, which can be displayed on its own or set into the airframe and left partly exposed. The real subject

The Messerschmitt P.1101 was a German experimental jet project of the end of the Second World War. It became famous for the pioneering design of its wing, whose sweep angle could be set, which was to allow better performance across different speed regimes. Construction of the prototype began in 1944, but the aircraft was not completed because the war ended in 1945. The unfinished airframe reached the USA, where it influenced the development of an experimental aircraft with variable wing geometry.

Building and painting tips

Cut the parts off the sprues and glue them with liquid cement for plastic. Paint and pick out the cockpit interior and the details of the engine section before the airframe is closed up, as on this model they stand out especially if you choose the exposed engine on its dolly. Apply primer and the colors with an airbrush and bring out the panel lines with a wash. Given that the subject is a project that was never finished, leave room for specialist documentation when it comes to the schemes.
