A set of decals from the maker Quinta Studio that transfers onto a plastic propeller a faithful imitation of the laminated (glued) wood of a period propeller of the Axial type. It is not a kit and not the propeller itself - the decal is applied to a part from the model and replaces the demanding painting of wood grain. Intended for models of period First World War aircraft in 1:32 scale.

The real subject

The wooden propellers of First World War aircraft were made by gluing together layers of various kinds of wood. The Axial type was among the widespread German propellers, and its characteristic pattern of growth rings and the transitions between the laminations is a striking detail on a model.

Use

• It is a good idea to lay a light wood shade under the propeller, onto which the decal is applied.
• The decal is cut out, dipped briefly in water and slid onto the propeller blade.
• At the end we recommend varnishing over it to even out the sheen and to protect it.
