The Ju 87 B and R interior in 1:72 scale

A set of Kelik color 3D elements for the cockpit of the Ju 87 dive bomber, in the B and R versions, in 1:72 scale. The elements are cut for the Airfix kit and they solve what is hardest to paint at a small scale: the instrument panel with its dials, the side consoles and other small cockpit fittings.

What it brings to the model

The cockpit of the Ju 87 shows along its whole length under the long glazing, and on a model with an open canopy it becomes the main place the eye goes. A hand-painted dial at this scale merges into a dot, whereas a printed element carries legible indicators and color separation of the panels. The raised relief also casts a shadow in side light, so the panel does not look like a painted-on patch.

Before application and while working

• Check the manufacturer's instructions to see how the Kelik elements attach to the parts. The method of application differs between the individual ranges.
• Spray the cockpit parts first and let them cure; the elements belong on a finished surface.
• Degrease the surface, otherwise the edge of the element will lift in time.
• Work with soft-closing tweezers and press down with a cotton swab from the center out to the edges.
• Assemble the cockpit only after the elements are applied, while there is free access to the panel.
