ResKit 1:35 AH-64 Apache - late pylons with 122 gal tanks is a set of 3D-printed underwing pylons including two large drop tanks, made for the Meng kit. It is not a kit: you have to own the base model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of 3D-printed pylons in the late form, with two large drop tanks of 122 gallons (about 460 liters) added. Scale 1:35, made by ResKit, intended for the AH-64 Apache kit from Meng. A pylon is the beam under the wing on which armament is hung, anti-tank guided missiles or rocket pods, or a drop tank just like these. The Apache has four such points on its stub wings and each of them pivots in the vertical plane (roughly +4° to -15°). It is NOT a kit of the helicopter: it is an upgrade accessory.
Late or early? Watch out for a mix-up. You can tell this set by the tanks: it comes out separately from the set of early pylons, which is without tanks. The exact structural difference between the early and the late pylon is not stated by the manufacturer; all that is certain is that the form changed over the machine's career and that ResKit tells the two versions apart. Please compare photographs of the particular machine you are building: the period, the unit and the deployment will decide which set is the right one. That way you avoid fitting the wrong set to a model already under way.
The AH-64 Apache is the main American attack helicopter. Under the nose it has a 30 mm M230 chain gun aimed by a helmet-mounted sight: wherever the gunner looks, the gun points. Drop tanks on the pylons extend the range greatly and are fitted mainly for ferry flights and long-range missions, though at the cost of occupied stations that then carry no armament. It is exactly this trade of tanks for rockets that makes a model with tanks a different, less usual and all the more interesting sight than the standard combat configuration.
The set is 3D printed and behaves like resin. Cut the tanks and the pylons away from the supports with a cut, using a saw or a sharp scalpel, and certainly not by snapping: the print is hard but brittle. Ordinary cement for plastic does not work here, so make the joints with cyanoacrylate glue or with epoxy, which holds better on the heavier tanks and lets you align the part. Wash all the parts in lukewarm soapy water before spraying so that the print resin residue from production is gone. Do not breathe in the sanding dust, it is harmful to health, so always sand wet. The large smooth faces of the tanks will give away every unevenness, so it pays to polish them and spray a filler primer before painting.
It is NOT a kit. It is an upgrade accessory: the base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
