A cleaning rod was part of the equipment of every gun and the crew carried it outside the vehicle, where it is clearly visible on a model. In a kit it tends to be molded in simplified form, with thick brackets and no definition. The photo-etched accessory replaces this detail with a part that is an order of magnitude thinner, so that the brackets and clips finally look like metal straps rather than plastic lugs. The extent of the set and the fitting procedure are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The Tiger I is a German heavy tank of the Second World War, conspicuous for its angular hull and long barrel. It was precisely the long gun barrel that meant the cleaning rod was carried in several sections and stowed on the outside of the vehicle. For a model it is a rewarding detail: it lies in a clearly visible place and breaks up the large empty surfaces of the armor.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not with nippers, otherwise the thin sheet will buckle. Make the folds with a photo-etch bending tool or by laying a blade against the edge, so that the edge comes out crisp and straight. Bond with super glue applied with the tip of a wire; cement for plastic does not hold on metal. Degrease the parts before painting and use a primer, otherwise the coat will not hold on the smooth surface. Try the fit dry first and think about when the part should go on the model: small metal items are the easiest to damage while the model is handled further.
Photo-etched parts are supplied. The tank kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
