The photo-etched mesh screens Engine Grill Screen Tiger I in 1:35 scale replace the solid plastic moldings on the engine deck of a model with an open metal fabric.
Responsibility details are not available.
This small photo-etched set from the Italian brand Royal Model replaces the solid plastic grilles at the rear of a tank model with a fine metal fabric. A molded part can only suggest the relief, whereas pierced photo-etch is genuinely open and a view into the cooling bay opens up beneath it. You build the tank itself from an ordinary kit, and this is only a metal addition on top of it.
The Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger heavy tank went into action in the autumn of 1942 and its 88 mm KwK 36 gun became the terror of Allied crews. At the rear of the hull lay large openings for drawing in and expelling the cooling air for the Maybach engine. To stop a grenade, a stone or an incendiary bottle falling into them, a woven steel screen stretched in a frame covered them. On the real machine it was open enough for the fan blades to show through it.
First sand the plastic grilles down flat, so that the new layer does not sit too high. Bend the metal fabric over the edge of a steel ruler and fix it with cyanoacrylate glue applied on the tip of a wire. Get the grease off the surface before painting and reach for a primer meant for metal, otherwise the shade will not hold on smooth brass.
Paints, glue and the base kit are not part of the delivery.
