An injection-molded plastic kit of the Kübelwagen Type 82 (Pkw.K1) in 1:35 scale from the Chinese brand Meng Model, which is among the best of current military model production, with high accuracy of fit, finely rendered parts and thoughtful engineering. The boxing represents the vehicle in its North African form. The set offers a broken-down chassis matching the real construction of the car, a folding canvas roof, a windshield that can be built upright or folded down, optional headlight covers (clear as well as blackout), a spare wheel, jerrycans with brackets and soft vinyl tires. Fine decals and three color schemes are included.
The Kübelwagen was the standard light cross-country car of the German army during the Second World War. It grew out of the design of the people's car: an air-cooled engine at the rear, a simple light sheet-metal body and surprisingly good off-road ability. It was precisely its light weight and air cooling that made it a suitable machine for the hot and dusty environment of North Africa, where it served as a liaison, reconnaissance and staff vehicle. It was produced in large numbers throughout the war and became one of the most typical images of German units on every front.
Work from the chassis: finish and paint the engine, the suspension and the interior of the tub before you close the body, as you will not reach them once it is glued. Degrease the vinyl tires before painting so that the paint holds; use a primer on the plastic. Spray the base desert shade with an airbrush in thin coats and add gentle fading of the horizontal surfaces. For weathering use a dark wash into the corners, chipping on the edges of the fenders and the doors and finally dry pigments, with light dust clinging to the underside of the body, the wheels and the running boards. Set the canvas roof apart with a flatter shade than the sheet metal. Mask the glazing and glue it so that it does not fog.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
