The third part of a numbered line of decal sheets for figures in 1:35 scale, with which German uniform markings of the Second World War are transferred onto finished figures. It is not a figure or a kit but a detail accessory for figures you already have built and painted. The line is numbered, so it can be filled in gradually depending on which markings a scene under way still lacks.

Where the markings go on a figure

Uniform badges sit in places that are hard to reach on a finished figure — the collar, the sleeve, the shoulder boards, the cap. That is exactly why they are added last, and exactly why they take the most work: the surface is rumpled and the area small. A decal solves this better than a brush, because it carries the finished shape and only has to be settled in place. The result then stands up to a close look or to macro photography, where hand painting of small badges usually gives itself away.

Use and tips

• The base has to be smooth, painted and sealed with a gloss or satin coat
• Soak the decal briefly and let it rest on a paper tissue until it releases
• Move it into place with a damp brush, not with a finger
• Apply the softener and then do not touch the design until it is dry
• At the end, unify the surface with a matte clear coat
