The cavalry box 28mm French Napoleonic Wars Line Chasseurs a Cheval 1808-1815 (14 Figures) offers fourteen mounted chasseurs of line light cavalry in two patterns of uniform.
Responsibility details are not available.
Fourteen riders, a set of bases and a full-color guide make up the contents of this box from Perry Miniatures. What is remarkable is the breadth of uniform variants: the parts cover the older pattern worn in the years 1808 to 1812 as well as the later pattern of 1812 to 1815, and each of them in field as well as full dress. A single box therefore covers a collection from the beginning and from the end of the period alike.
The mounted chasseurs were the most numerous type of French light cavalry and in the field they carried out duties similar to those of the hussars, only in a less conspicuous green uniform. They rode on the flanks of marching columns, gathered reports on the enemy's positions and set out against artillery batteries that had been left without cover. The change to the new uniform pattern after 1812 brought a shorter coat and differently cut trousers, which is clearly apparent on the figures.
Choose the uniform pattern first and only then take the torsos off the sprue, because the two versions are mixed together in the box. Build the green of the coat up in thin layers, as dark shades have a tendency to flood engraved detail. Leave the saddlery and the bags until the end, as they form a natural color contrast to the uniform.
The contents are unpainted and unassembled; the package includes neither chemicals nor brushes.
