Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet heavy tank JS-4 (IS-4) in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The set is generous in parts and offers individual link tracks and photo-etched elements (for example the grilles over the engine). Metal extras such as a barrel and cable are usually included as well; go by the package for the exact contents.
The JS-4, also designated IS-4, was a Soviet heavy tank developed from the wartime IS family. It was based on a lengthened hull with an added road wheel on each side and took in the lessons gathered at the end of and after the Second World War. The design went through trials and production was approved in the postwar period, but because of problems with mobility and weight only a few hundred were built. The tank therefore remained a marginal but technically interesting chapter in the development of Soviet heavy tanks.
Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement and the metal parts with cyanoacrylate (super glue). First assemble and paint the running gear and the lower hull before you close it with the upper parts. Assembling the individual track links calls for time and patience. Lay down a base color as primer and apply the shades with an airbrush. You will bring out the character of the tank with washes in the recesses and the rivets and with pigments for mud and dust effects on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
