About product

Kleine Feldküche Hf.14 with crew - a MiniArt kit, 1:35 scale

A plastic kit of the German field kitchen Kleine Feldküche Hf.14 including the figures of its crew from MiniArt in 1:35 scale. The kit contains a finely detailed model of the field kitchen, figures in natural poses, small accessories (utensils, firewood, implements) and photo-etched parts to raise the realism. It is a rewarding genre scene for a diorama of a military rear area. The exact contents of the box and the number of parts follow the enclosed instructions.

The real subject

The Kleine Feldküche Hf.14 was a compact towed field kitchen used by German forces in the Second World War. It served to supply units with hot food even in demanding field conditions. Because of the characteristic shape of its chimney the soldiers nicknamed it the Gulaschkanone, meaning goulash cannon. The kitchen had a sturdy metal body on a two-wheeled chassis, a main cooking cauldron and smaller compartments for preparing soups, stews and hot drinks.

Building and painting tips

Paint the cauldron, the firebox and the small accessories before final assembly; attach the photo-etched parts with super glue and the plastic with thin liquid cement. Give the figures attention when painting the faces and the uniforms - they bring the whole scene to life. Apply primer before painting. Matter-of-fact weathering suits the kitchen - a sooty chimney and firebox, dust and mud pigments on the wheels and light metal wear on the edges.

Who the model is for

  • For builders of military rear-area dioramas in 1:35 scale
  • For modelers of figures and genre scenes
  • For collectors of unconventional field equipment of the Second World War
  • For lovers of detailed MiniArt kits

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
