This set presents the Italian M.T.S.M.A. fast assault boat of the Second World War as a resin kit with photo-etched parts added. It is a model for experienced modelers that builds up into a detailed rendering of a small combat craft once it is assembled and painted. The display base is not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

The real subject

During the Second World War the Regia Marina developed small fast craft intended for use against larger ships. A light fast unit relied on high speed and small size, which let it close on its target and withdraw quickly. The design followed the Italian tradition of building torpedo and assault boats.

Building and painting tips

First wash the mold release residue off the resin parts, cut the casting blocks away carefully and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Wear respiratory protection while sanding. Bend the photo-etched parts over a metal edge. An airbrush suits the painting, and final weathering with washes and pigments will bring out the texture of the hull and the deck.
