A British methyl bromide fire extinguisher (1:35) is a resin modeling accessory from Firma49 for bringing dioramas and interiors of the Second World War period to life.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a vehicle kit but a resin (3D-printed) accessory meant to dress up a diorama, a vehicle or a scene in 1:35 scale. The set faithfully captures the period British fire extinguisher filled with methyl bromide of the kind used in armored vehicles and aircraft during the Second World War. Thanks to fine 3D printing the part has sharp edges and legible detail on the body and the controls.
Methyl bromide (bromomethane) was a widespread extinguishing agent in the British army from between the wars until roughly the 1950s. It was used in hand and built-in extinguishers of tanks, armored vehicles and aircraft, because it smothered fuel fires effectively. Because of its high toxicity it was later replaced by safer agents, which makes it a characteristic period feature today.
First wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water and separate them carefully from the support blocks. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) and do the sanding with respiratory protection. A primer as an undercoat and painting with an airbrush are recommended; the metal body comes into its own after fine emphasis on the edges and a wash into the recesses.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as a resin part. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
