The Russian riot police (OMON) 1990-2000 plastic figures in 1:35 scale show members of the Russian special public-order units of the 1990s.
Responsibility details are not available.
A figure set in injection-molded plastic, tied to one particular decade. It fills a gap that modern dioramas tend to have: police and public-order forces come up far less often than the army, yet it is precisely they that give a scene its civilian context and explain why military vehicles are standing in a street between houses.
In Russia the abbreviation OMON stands for the special police detachments deployed to keep public order, to act against organized crime and in armed conflicts on the territory of the state. The 1990s were their most exposed period: the collapse of the previous order, a sharp rise in crime and war operations in the Caucasus meant deployment in conditions they had never been intended for. From that comes the notorious inconsistency of their equipment.
Run a scalpel and fine abrasive paper over the mold seams on the limbs, as on figures of this type they usually show most on the arms. Dark equipment easily merges into a single patch, so lighten the base and bring the edges out with a dry brush. Build the faces up from the darkest tone toward the light ones and let them stand out against the dark color around them.
The figures come unglued and unpainted. The package does not hold paints or glue, unless stated otherwise.
