1:35 Soviet Light Tank MS-1 is a new plastic kit of the first series-produced Soviet tank from Zvezda.
Responsibility details are not available.
With this model Zvezda has reached deep into the 1920s. The MS-1, also known under the designation T-18, was the first tank designed and built in the Soviet Union itself. It is an injection-molded plastic kit from a freshly cut tooling in 1:35 scale.
The designers started from the layout of the French Renault FT, which was taken as the model at the time: the engine at the rear, the crew at the front, a rotating turret with a small-caliber gun and a machine gun. Compared with the French pattern the MS-1 received more flexible suspension and a better ability to cross trenches. It was built at the turn of the 1920s and 1930s and became the school for the whole Soviet tank industry. When more modern types replaced it in combat service, a number of retired hulls and turrets ended up concreted into fortified lines, where crews were still using them in 1941.
A small outline means every detail shows, so pay attention to cutting the sprue gates off cleanly and sanding the parting lines. Leave the turret removable until you have finished painting the hull. Given the size of the real vehicle, the model looks best on a small display base or in a compact scene, where the proportions can be compared with a figure.
The parts are plastic, unassembled and without a finish; the chemicals needed for the build have to be bought separately.
