The 1:35 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vb kit from Border Model brings the British fighter in a scale that is otherwise the domain of military hardware.
Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic model of the British fighter that the manufacturer has produced in a ratio of 1:35. That is an unusual choice for aircraft, but a practical one: the finished machine can be placed in a single scene with the tanks, vehicles and figures that are most often built in this scale.
The Mk.V became the most numerous form of the Spitfire and carried a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine of the 45 series. The letter b denotes the armament arrangement in which two 20 mm cannons were combined in the wing with four machine guns. These machines defended the British Isles, fought over Malta and over North Africa, and many of them received a bulky dust filter under the nose that markedly changed the silhouette of the aircraft.
Larger surfaces forgive fewer mistakes, so it pays to spend time sanding the joints and restoring the engraved lines. Thanks to the size, you can see well into the cockpit through the glazing, so it is worth working the seat, the belts and the instrument panel up carefully. The ribbed fabric covering of the control surfaces comes out well after gentle shading and after being unified with a matte varnish.
The package consists of plastic parts ready for assembly and painting. Paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
