An injection-molded plastic kit of the German heavy half-track vehicle sWS (Schwerer Wehrmachtschlepper) carrying a large 60cm infrared searchlight, in 1:35 scale from the Bronco brand. The model offers a detailed body with wide tracks, a well-worked interior and a complete engine. According to the manufacturer, photo-etched parts and a decal sheet are included; the searchlight itself can be built in the combat position pointing forward or in the transport position facing up.
The sWS was a German heavy half-track tractor of simple wartime design, built in the last years of the Second World War as a carrier for loads as well as weapons. The subject of the model is its night variant with the large 60cm infrared reflector nicknamed Uhu (the eagle owl). Searchlights of this kind lit up targets at night for tanks equipped with infrared sights. It was a pioneering and little-used attempt at conducting night combat at the very end of the war.
The model has a rich interior and an engine - assemble and paint them before you close the body up. The characteristic infrared reflector is the dominant feature to the eye, so give it care. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a primer and spray a late German camouflage with an airbrush; the patina is provided by a wash in the recesses, edge highlighting and dust pigments on the running gear.
