An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale captures the Soviet medium tank T-34/85 in the early production version with the D-5T gun from plant no. 112 in the spring of 1944. The set from MiniArt stands out for fine surface detail, individual track links and photo-etched parts. It is a more demanding set meant for more experienced modelers.
The T-34/85 was the development peak of the legendary Soviet T-34 medium tank; the larger three-man turret and the 85 mm gun markedly increased its combat value against the later German tanks. Early examples from the spring of 1944 carried the D-5T gun and had a number of production features specific to plant no. 112, Krasnoye Sormovo. These variants are particularly interesting to collectors for their transitional details.
Work carefully when building the individual track links and the running gear. Spray the base with a primer and the main shade, Soviet green, with an airbrush. You create a faithful patina with washes, filters and dust pigments, and bring out the worn paint with a dry brush.
