Responsibility details are not available.
This set is not a model of the tank but a photo-etched detail set in 1:35 scale from Voyager Model. It serves to build the so-called Culin hedgerow cutter (Culin Rhino) on the nose of the American Sherman tank faithfully. The fine metal parts replace coarser plastic items and give a model a convincing, true-to-scale look. The GP designation suggests more general use on several variants of the Sherman.
The Culin cutter, nicknamed the Rhino, was an improvised attachment of steel teeth welded to the nose of American Sherman tanks during the fighting in Normandy in 1944. It made it possible to break through the dense hedgerows (the bocage) that blocked the advance, without the tank exposing the vulnerable lower part of its hull. It was a typical piece of field ingenuity, and thanks to it American units worked their way through the Normandy terrain faster.
The photo-etched parts are separated with a sharp knife on a mat and bent over a metal ruler or in a bender. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate) or with two-part epoxy; cement for plastic does not hold on metal. Before painting it helps to degrease the parts and spray a base coat (a primer) for good paint adhesion.
This is a detail set, not a model. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
