Voyager Model 1:35 photo-etch for the M4A3E8 HVSS, basic set

An accessory for modelers of military vehicles in 1:35 scale from Voyager Model. It is a set of photo-etched metal parts marked as basic, that is one covering the main visible elements rather than a complete rework. With it you replace the plastic handles, covers, grilles and other thin sheet-metal parts. The set is cut for one particular kit, which has to be bought separately. On a Sherman in particular it is the thin sheet-metal elements on the hull and the sides that decide the impression on a finished model.

The real subject

The M4A3E8, nicknamed the Easy Eight, was the final and best production version of the Sherman. It is distinguished by its HVSS running gear with dual wheels and wider tracks, which lowered the ground pressure and improved handling in mud and snow. The machine fought in the last months of the Second World War and extensively in Korea, where it was among the backbone of American armored units.

Use

• cut the parts from the fret with a sharp knife on a hard surface; do not break them out
• make the bends over a metal ruler or in a photo-etch bender
• glue with super glue applied with the tip of a wire
• cut off the plastic parts the photo-etch replaces and sand the area flat
• degrease the metal before painting and give it a primer for metal

The set is intended for more experienced modelers. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
