An injection-molded plastic kit of the battleship Voltaire in 1:350 scale from Hobby Boss. The Voltaire was one of the sister ships of the Danton class, that is the last generation of French battleships with a mixed main and secondary battery.
The Voltaire entered service at the beginning of the second decade of the twentieth century. Like the other ships of her class she had, alongside the main battery, a strong battery of heavy medium-caliber guns, so she tends to be counted among the semi-dreadnoughts, even though the designation pre-dreadnought also became established for the whole class. She was powered by steam turbines, and the characteristic feature of the class was a tall, very broken-up silhouette with several funnels. In the First World War the Voltaire operated in the Mediterranean and in the Adriatic, where Allied forces blockaded the Austro-Hungarian Navy. In 1918 she was hit by torpedoes, but stayed afloat and was repaired. After the war she served for a number of years more, mostly on training duties.
The silhouette of the ships of this class is full of small elements, so divide the parts up into assemblies and build the superstructure from the bottom upward. Paint the hull in thin coats and grade the shade, so that the large area of the side does not look flat. You bring wooden decks to life with several brown tones applied with a dry brush. Leave the ship boats and their davits for the end, so that they are not in the way while you handle the model.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
